casio g-shock gb 6900 Bluetooth review

It has been a long time coming with the natural disasters in Japan and Thailand but the first Bluetooth 4.0 watch has arrived at Freedom Mobiles Towers. And… it’s a G-Shock. Has the first smartwatch truly landed?

The great news is it looks fantastic out the box and on the wrist. Gloss Resin is a great look, definitely fashionable and a little gangstar if that’s your thing! The bad news is really bad folks. It DOESN’T work with your iPhone… not yet at least. Once you work out the buttons to operate Bluetooth pairing (the instructions are Japanese as this is the only country its released in) sadly you get nothing from either device. Apparently Casio are in discussions with Apple to get an App sorted out which will allow you to do all the fun things promised by the promo material; proximity alarm, notifications, phone finder to name the highlights. There is an Android App as far as we can tell but we’ll need to raid our stock cupboard at Freedom Mobiles to play with an Android phone to see about that. We’re all iPhone junkies here!

A timeline for this is anybody’s guess but the gb 6900 is now pride of place on our wrist patiently waiting. The moment we get the word about iPhone link up you’ll hear about it right here.

I just want to ask if you already know how to make g-shock gb6900 work with iphone 4s? I already have the watch already.

    thanks!

Hm…need to read small print better. I saw “Bluetooth 4.0 Watch” and clicked before I aimed. It looks awesome and it’s approximately the same size as the circa 2004 Ironman Pagerwatch — smaller than any of the watch phones.

But the “but” is a big “but”.

If anybody gets a lead on iPhone developments, please shout from the rooftops. This has the potential to be way cool, but it’s a Ferrari without an engine right now.

    Thanks!
